Butcher knife - A butcher knife is an utillitarian knife. It is used primarily for the butchering and or dressing of animals.
Pantographic knife - A Pantographic knife, also known as a paratrooper knife, is a folding knife whose blade is fully enclosed by its handles when closed, in a manner similar to a balisong knife (commonly called a butterfly knife in western countries) - with which it is often confused. Unlike the balisong knife, the pantographic knife uses a pantograph linkage to keep the handles aligned during opening and closing (whereas balisong knife handles swing freely and independently).
Margaret Garner - Margaret Garner was a slave who killed her two-year-old daughter with a butcher knife rather than see her be returned to slavery after Garner and her husband were captured following an attempt to flee. Her story is the foundation of the Toni Morrison novel Beloved, and the subject of an opera, written by Morrison and composed by the Grammy-winning Richard Danielpour.
Butterfly knife - The Balisong is a butterfly knife, and is sometimes known as a Batangas knife, is a form of folding pocket knife with two handles that counter-rotate around the tang such that, when closed, the blade is concealed within grooves in the handles. In the hands of a trained user, the knife blade can be brought forth quickly using one hand.
